Beheadings
Differences Among Execution Actors
Executions by beheading are inherently violent and bloody. As with other violent and bloody methods of execution, Executioners were much more likely to favor these methods. Regarding the guillotine, Executioners are over three times more likely to favor this method, when compared to Hard Abstract Supporters. Executioners are six times more likely to favor the guillotine, when compared to Soft Abstract Supporters. This pattern is even more pronounced for beheading with a sword. Hard Abstract Supporters are significantly more favorable than Soft Abstract Supporters to executions using the guillotine Hard Abstract Supporters are somewhat more favorable than Soft Abstract Supporters to beheading with a sword and stoning. But these differences are not statistically significant. For more technical information on the statistical tests, click here.
