People of the Jewish faith, as well as all people of conscience, must never forget the Holocaust. Six million people died in Nazi concentration camps. In April 2019, Saudi Arabia executed 37 people, apparently by beheading them with a sword. As governor of Arkansas in 1992, Bill Clinton took a break from the campaign trail to witness the botched execution of Ricky Ray Rector, a Black man who was cognitively disabled from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Rector saved his dessert from his last meal for later, not understanding that there would be no "later" for him. Clinton also tried to arrange four executions on the same day in order to reduce stress on prison personnel tasked with killing the condemned men.
Whether you favor or oppose capital punishment, when do multiple executions become mass execution in your mind? What is your psychological threshold?
